May 2021- Chairman's Comments

Hi Neighbors,

The year is moving swiftly along and summer is around the corner. I know it is easy to be lulled by the warmth but I would be remiss if I did not share a warning of our economic climate change. I'm certain all of you have noticed the coming surge of inflation?  Every day I am reading the reactions of people's shock at rising animal feed, fuel prices and food. I do not think it is going to get better soon and I urge everyone to make a plan that best suits your family now for when our dollars can buy less in the months ahead.

The economic policy of the current administration as well as all preceding has been building this house of cards for a long time and reasonably the only thing we can do is prepare our own house for the storm. Some days I feel as if we are living Rudyard Kipling’s Gods of the Copybook Headings poem line by line.  The Truth is about to unleash it's fury. But, my hope is that perhaps we can escape some of it.

I shall not attempt to offer economic advice, but I would urge you to consider your wealth in terms of your productivity, not your monetary value. Productivity is what provides everything else we need. Increasing our productivity can only pay dividends in the long run. This can be just about anything that aids your bottom line in terms of money saved or future costs avoided. Perhaps the worst of the pending economic storm misses us, but for certain, being productive now and making preparations for what does come only makes us stronger. It makes our "house" stronger just as it did for our ancestors in the Great Depression.

As a county we have one "Trump" card that can stave off a hard downturn, that is landing a viable manufacturing plant in our mega-park.The economic wind-of-change from even the building of a facility will go a long way to stabilize our county. This will help lessen the impact of any financial collapse set in motion by politicians and shortsighted advisors.

Hailing from the port town of Savannah, I have seen this very effect in trying times where cities and communities with no buffering industry like a port, or a large construction project languish over time and decline. I understand it may be hard to fathom how a citizen not directly associated with a project like building out the mega-park can experience positive returns or inflation neutralizing effects, but they will be there in many ways not readily apparent... call it.... ‘trickle-out’ economics!

As county citizens, we must increase our productivity. To do so, we must put pressure on our elected officials and the bureaucrats that serve us all. We are entrusting them to give their best efforts to land a manufacturer in our mega-park. We expect they will accept and implement the changes that the BOC Economic Development Task Force, they implemented, recommends. No matter the recommendation, we are confident it will be an improvement of what we currently have in our county. Our commissioners should work together to bring positive change for the county and consider adoption of any recommendations offered by the Task Force. Keep in mind that previously, and in a unanimous vote, the BOC had specifically agreed to and charged the Task Force to recommend a better economic development county structure.

We are headed into summer, but Joe Biden's "long dark winter" is still three and a half years long. I would ask everyone to be proactive, to be productive in the coming months, and expect the same of our elected Commissioners. Join us in our monthly PCGOP meetings, held on the 3rd Thursdays at LaPiazza Restaurant. We welcome new conservative voices.

- Chris Weaver, Chairman

Welcome to several new newsletter recipients, as our mailing list keeps growing by the day.   It is our goal that new recipients and our existing recipients find value in the contents of our letter and our events.   Every month we are honored to have more attending our monthly meeting and engaging with our Republican Party committees and officers.    This Thursday’s event, which we are hosting on Indoctrination in our Schools, is one such local item which we hope will educate and engage local voters, not just on this one topic, but on other critical conservative subjects.

We are excited to have meaningful and pertinent items to present.   Our constant focus is on growing our Party’s Registration, Educating our voters, and getting EVERYONE out to vote so that great Republican candidates get elected.   To accomplish this, we need everyone’s help.   We need engagement and feedback.    We need Precinct Chairs, Letters to the Editor Writers, Committee volunteers, Businesses/Citizens which sponsor or donate to events, and Venues for holding events at. Do you have time to make calls or visit people in your area to grow our party and message? This is one of the most effective things we can do.  Also, it is imperative we continue to look for quality candidates so that our county and state leadership remains strong.

Our Founding Fathers not only pledged their “Lives, Fortunes, and Sacred Honor,” they gave them as well.  Will our future generations curse us for failing to protect and preserve their rights and freedoms for them?   Are we willing to give up some of our time, to study candidates and those who will defend our Constitution, to talk to others about them, and to support organizations and candidates who support our Constitution?   Please get involved and do your part in preserving our country's core beliefs of individual freedoms.

Consider contacting me at [email protected] or at 336-929-6244 to discuss items of concern or ways in which you think you can support the County Party.    Thank you
