June 2021- Chairman's Comments

Hello Everyone,

I'm delighted to say our party is growing. Our registration numbers are increasing and the number of people attending our meetings will soon force us to a larger meeting room. I attribute this growth to citizens seeing the party active in our community and realizing it is incumbent upon all of us to be involved and guide this county forward in a manner that enhances our investment of time, resource and love in it. The new people joining us are no longer content to sit on the sidelines and watch. They are asking questions, demanding answers from our government.

We are not the small party we once were-- we have not only grown in size; but also increased our talent in the club. As a group, we seek accountability and transparency at every level of our government.

To this point, it is time to address a local matter. Three of our republican commissioners have been missing in action ever since they decided to lock the other two commissioners out of counsel and deliberations. They have avoided discourse and dialogue with our party by not attending our meetings, by not responding to emails. Neither have they taken the opportunity to address party members (you) directly through this very newsletter as they are each encouraged to. Such behavior is not the behavior of accountable Republicans, but rather of backroom politicians who appear to have agendas they do not wish to share with the party at large. This is exactly the type of Republican that helped spur the rise of the Tea Party. It is not clear if they wish to be part of the GOP or not, but if the Courier Times was right so many months ago suggesting a "spit", I would hope they would let us know where they are going.

I see the Local Democrats are getting a lot of love from the press.

Speaking of our local newspaper, they have done a great job of attempting to tarnish Charlie Palmer and Pj Gentry with their very own tint of yellow journalism. Fortunately all the chicanery they attempted to sell to citizens at large via the paper was thoroughly exposed Person County Local Facebook Group. By the way, this group's reach exceeds that of the newspaper. Diligent citizens took the time to expose comments suppressed by the Courier Times that actually show Gentry and Palmer as demanding accountability.

I invite everyone to join the Person County Local group online. Please be aware, this is the modern-day "Public Square" where you can sell your car, promote your business and speak mostly freely (aside from the Facebook censorships concerns) about almost anything. Most important, you can question local politics. It can be fun too-- The humor surrounding what will become of  Palace Pointe recently was a riot!

I hope to see new faces at our next meeting and who knows? Perhaps we will be surprised by the attendance of a commissioner who wishes to clarify their position with the party. Which would be wonderful.
For this next meeting we also have the addition of US Congressman Ted Budd's wife, Amy Kate Budd, to speak to us about her husband's political future. In addition, Amy Marshall with Carolina Teacher's Alliance, as our guest speaker.

Please try to join us.

- Chris Weaver, PCGOP Chair

What a great meeting we had in June!

I cannot thank everyone enough for the excitement and growth we saw with so many new faces.   The special guest, Julie Emmons - NC Values Coalition Vice President, gave a good overview of the current fight at the State Capital.    This month we are honored to have Amy Marshall as our guest speaker.   More on that in the next email.   We are excited to report that our party's registration numbers continue to grow each week (10 new registered voters last week).

For each member I say thank you for your contribution of time, effort, and money.   We need each of you supporting us by attending our meetings, praying for our success in fighting the enemies of freedom, and joining in the public dialogs within our community.    Hope each of you had a wonderful and safe Independence Day, whether participating in our float or the drive.   See you all at our next meeting ready to have a great time together again.
- John Seepe, PCGOP Vice Chair
