North Carolina Senate Page Program

North Carolina House and Senate Page Programs

The North Carolina Senate Page Program provides the opportunity for students to find out firsthand how laws are made, by helping in an individual senator’s office and being present to assist members in legislative sessions.

These pages must be between the ages of 15 and 18, must be in good academic standing in their schools, and sponsored by a Senator.  Interested students should reach out to Sen. Graig Meyer via [email protected] with "Page Program" in the subject line to apply.  His staff will send the students a special online link to their individual application.  Once the student completes and submits the application in this highly competitive process, he will review them and be able to submit selected applicants for appointment.

The Senate page program is open to students in tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade (during the 2023-24 school year).  Availability of weeks is based on a first-come, first-serve basis so please apply early if the applicant is interested in a specific week.

Parents/guardians of pages will be responsible for securing lodging during the time their child serves.  Unfortunately, host families are not available.  The program will be offered April 29 - June 27, 2024 (subject to change).

To learn more about the program, please visit ncleg.gov/Senate/PageProgram.  The site includes general information about the application process, weekly schedule, and many other FAQs.

If Sen. Meyer's office doesn't respond or says his slots are full, shoot Andy Perrigo an email at [email protected].  He may be able to help find slots attached to other Senate offices.

The North Carolina House Page Program offers young men and women the opportunity to learn about, and participate in, the legislative process of our state.  It is a four day long experience that allows high school students that are currently in grades ten, eleven, or twelve to observe firsthand how our laws are made.  It provides them the unique privilege of working in the House Chamber in the midst of legislative action.

House Pages are important to the operation of the General Assembly as they assist the Members and staff of the House during the legislative session.  They participate in daily sessions, committee meetings, and perform other duties including, but not limited to, delivering messages and materials within the legislative complex, completing mailings for Members, and passing out documents or running errands in the House Chamber during daily sessions.

Selection Process

The selection process for this program is highly competitive.  Official appointments are made by the Speaker of the House based on recommendations by individual Representatives.  Students submit their application to their Representative who selects the individuals to be appointed by the Speaker.  Appointments are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
