This decision is not about ambition.  It’s about responsibility.  It’s about service.  And it’s about the deep love I have for this county the place where I raised my family, met and worked alongside of some remarkable men and women I have met who want to make Person County a better place.  I have devoted my whole career to protecting and strengthening communities.

For 50 years, I have served in law enforcement across our state, from my early years in the Park Ranger Unit of the Durham Police Department to my retirement as a Lieutenant in the Special Operations Division.  I have spent decades working with statewide organizations, local boards, and community groups, always with the same mission at heart: to safeguard our people, improve our institutions, and leave things better than I found them.  Public Safety, education, and the preservation of our natural resources have always been more than priorities, they have been my life’s work.

I believe deeply we must balance growth with the rural character we all cherish.  We must support our county employees, who I had the opportunity to meet while attending the last session of the County Civic Academy.  I can honestly say we have some of the finest public servants I have ever met.  I was amazed at what all of the different departments can accomplish on what I think is limited manpower.

We must manage our resources wisely.  I have seen comments on social platforms where people say: I’ll vote for anyone that will cut taxes.  Well, it doesn’t work that way.  The county budget is based on the current tax rate.  I agree with Commissioner Long that we need to look at the budget and see where we can trim the fat if possible.

Industrial growth means stronger communities, better jobs, and long-term opportunity.  Person County needs Commissioners focused on recruiting and retaining high-quality industrial businesses that bring good-paying jobs, expand our tax base, and invest in our workforce – while respecting our community and infrastructure.  Strategic growth today helps ensure a stronger, more resilient local economy tomorrow.

My campaign is not about politics.  It is about people.  It is about your family and mine.  It is about ensuring that our children and grandchildren inherit a county full of opportunity and promise, filled with safety and pride.  I am committed to bringing steady leadership, decades of experience, and a heart for service to the Board of Commissioners.
