New Border Numbers Show Crisis is Worsening

  • Joe Biden created the crisis at the border and his administration is not taking this national security issue seriously. 
    • Kamala Harris was named the border crisis manager over 50 days ago and has yet to address the crisis or visit the border.
    • Biden has yet to visit to the border.
  • The latest data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection reaffirms that the crisis is worsening under Biden’s watch.
    • In April 178,622 illegal migrants were caught trying to cross the southern border – the highest one-month total in 20 years. 
    • This is a nearly 270% increase from the average number of April apprehensions during the Trump Administration. 
    • 17,171 of the over 178,000 illegal migrants were unaccompanied minors. 
    • Just 35% of family units were expelled during April. 
      • Biden has falsely said the “vast majority of the families” crossing the border are being sent back. 
  • This surge is overwhelming our U.S. Border Patrol agents.
    • Border crossings are at a 20 year high and ICE deportations have fallen to the lowest level on record. 
    • 1,500 illegal migrants – a 50% increase from March - are entering the U.S. every day due to agents being overwhelmed due to high levels of crossings. 
  • This is a humanitarian crisis. Many firsthand accounts of border crossings describe the horrors of human trafficking, sexual assault, and violence. 
  • Make no mistake, this is a crisis of Joe Biden’s creation.
    • A majority of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of the border crisis. 
    • It’s beyond time for Biden to recognize this exploding crisis at the border – a crisis he created with his open borders agenda.
