PCGOP reorganization

Person County GOP reorganization

In the second half of 2025 the Person County GOP Executive Committee split into two factions.  Faction #1 was comprised of: Chairwoman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, and some Precinct-Chairs.  Faction #2 was comprised of: Prior-Chairwoman, Treasurer, and several of the Precinct-Chairs.

Faction #2 has made 5 attempts to remove the Chairwoman since the Fall of 2025.  In a nutshell, here's how it went down.

In November, faction #2 made their first attempt to oust the Chairwoman by pushing her to resign, and she would not.

In December, Faction #2 got louder about ousting the current Chairwoman.  So, she allowed a vote for her removal to be added to the agenda of the quarterly Executive Committee Meeting – and it failed.

In February, faction #2 made two more attempts – and they both failed.

In March, faction #2 attempted to prevent the PCGOP 2026 Convention from occurring, by improperly locking the building – however, faction #1 held the PCGOP 2026 Convention in the parking lot.  Later in March, faction #2 held a faux 'convention' in a restaurant in Roxboro.

In April, faction #2 submitted to the North Carolina GOP headquarters in Raleigh an arbitration request to oust the Chairwoman and to give control to faction #2.  Later in April, the NCGOP Arbitration Committee took up this request, and held a hearing.

In May, the NCGOP Arbitration Committee issued a decree, saying (among several points of conclusion):

  • Precinct-Chairs are not part of the Executive Committee
  • Prior-Chairwoman is not part of the Executive Committee
  • Chairwoman Lawrence has been, and still is, in office

Executive Committee changes mandated.
